FOR RELEASE:
New 92% AFUE Gas Furnace from YORK Heats up Efficiencies in Construction Market
DALLAS, TEXAS ¾ YORK International Corporation’s Unitary Products Group (UPG) recently introduced its new 92% AFUE high-efficiency gas furnace to HVAC contractors at ComforTech 2003. Housed in an optimized 40-inch cabinet, this furnace offers convenient access and greater installation flexibility. “This innovative line of economical, high-efficiency furnaces offers the value that builders demand and the comfort, convenience and efficiency that homeowners want,” said Andy Fracica, YORK brand marketing manager. “Even with its smaller size, the 92% furnace with its ENERGY STAR®-qualified design is easier to service and maintain, thanks in large part to the convenient redesign or relocation of many common serviceable parts.” A new heat exchanger design simplifies the gas flow path, eliminating connection tubing and the collector box at the rear of the heat exchanger. The steel casing liner replaces foil-faced fiberglass insulation, offering better insulating performance and stronger cabinet design for faster, more flexible applications. The high-efficiency furnace includes a number of other new service features, among them a new model gas valve, four-speed blowers and a vent assembly with internal trap, that combine to help conserve space, improve access and minimize cost on every job. • Relocated offset internal vent assembly provides better coil clearance • Capacitor relocated on blower housing provides easier access for service and blower removal • New vent assembly with internal trap eliminates need for an external vent trap and provides better coil clearance • Larger peephole in lower door provides better view of diagnostic LED • Four-speed blowers provide greater installation flexibility • Removable block off plate in the bottom of the unit eliminates knockouts for bottom returns • New model gas valve eliminates need for hose fittings during pressure measurement In addition, the control box has been relocated to the front of the furnace to provide better access for low voltage wiring installation and easier service. The new control board features a tri-colored LED for expanded diagnostic capabilities and a non-volatile memory that retains the last five error flash codes, even in the event of power failure. The control board also features a low flame sense indicator that provides early warning of a flame sense problem and a flame current test pad that allows service technicians to use a voltmeter to check the flame sense current without disconnecting any wiring. Finally, an error code pushbutton on the board allows easy retrieval of error codes by service technicians. Every 92% furnace is backed with a limited lifetime warranty on the heat exchanger and a 5-year limited warranty on all other parts.
